Conclusion of Community Monitoring Agreements with Local Governments
In recent years, local governments have entered into monitoring agreements with private companies in order to increase the number of people observing the elderly with dementia, people with disabilities and children, and offices in the Group have also entered into observation agreements in various locations.
Hosting Health Fairs and Wellness Events at Our Dispensing Pharmacies
At each pharmacy in the dispensing pharmacy business, we implement various initiatives to raise the health awareness of local residents and patients and to concretely promote the extension of healthy life expectancy. We regularly hold health fairs at our pharmacies and actively participate in local health events and festivals. In addition, we hold a cafe for those with dementia, and sell aroma products at pharmacies so that patients can visit there casually.
Volunteer Cleaning Activities
As part of our social contribution activities, we clean up the greenways near our head office in Setagaya Ward. We are also expanding the scope of our activities, including at Group subsidiaries.
Yubi (finger) Donation
In 1996, our Group became the very first in the pharmaceutical wholesaling industry to install a donation-type beverage vending machine, operated by the certified NPO "Japan Kindness Association." Since this pioneering launch, we have steadily expanded the deployment of these machines across our locations.
The system operates on a unique matching gift mechanism: for every beverage purchased, a total of two yen—one yen from the purchase price and one yen contributed by the beverage manufacturer—is automatically donated to social welfare organizations. Affectionately named "Yubi-Bokin" (Finger Donation), the initiative embodies the philosophy that anyone can easily contribute to society with just the simple press of a finger.
Support for Programs Promoting the Performing Arts
We proudly support the performing arts promotion programs organized by the Setagaya Public Theatre. Dedicated to making theater accessible to a broader audience, the theater develops and delivers a wide range of cultural initiatives within the local community.
A key highlight of our partnership is "Nurturing Future Theater Artists," a subsidy program designed for the next generation. Under this initiative, junior and senior high school drama club members who are passionate about acting are invited to attend the theater's sponsored performances for a special fee of 1,000 yen, with students able to apply for approximately ten selected productions each year. Through this firsthand theatrical experience, we aim to provide young students with creative inspiration, insights for their own activities, and enriched learning opportunities through the power of art.
Social Contribution through Flag Recycling
Every October, the Setagaya Art Town Festival titled Sancha de Daidogei is held, with flags and banners decorating the streets to enliven the festival. To support the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake, a recycling project was launched within the Art Town Executive Committee. The project creates unique goods by upcycling previously displayed flags and banners, and sells them to festival visitors. Proceeds from these sales are donated to organizations that support disaster-stricken children and orphans through Setagaya Ward's disaster relief fund. Furthermore, the production of recycled goods is outsourced to a local welfare workshop in Setagaya Ward, which also provides employment support for the workers. The Company proposed and continues to sponsor it.
